What Does CBD Oil Do?
Cannabidiol, also known as CBD is an effective natural treatment used to treat many common medical conditions. More familiarly known as CBD, which stands for cannabimimetic agent, it is actually one of the 100 different chemical compounds present in marijuana or cannabis sativa plant.
How does CBD help relieve pain? It works by reducing the effects of chemicals in the brain known as “Endocannabinoids”, which are chemicals that help the brain process pain. Endocannabinoids are produced naturally in the body and the levels can vary from person to person depending on how the body responds to injury or illness. High levels of endocannabinoids are seen in those who are in chronic pain due to arthritis, or nerve injuries.
With this in mind, medical researchers have been working on developing ways to reduce the effects of Endocannabinoids without the use of synthetic drugs, or medications made from other types of plant-based sources. Cannabidiol, on the other hand, is very similar to the plant’s plant-based cousin, THC, the substance that causes intoxication when smoked. When ingested in pill form or applied topically, CBD is able to target the receptors in the brain that contain the Endocannabinoids, thus reducing the effects of these chemicals.
Medical researchers have seen CBD as a potential alternative to conventional pain killers, anti-anxiety drugs, antidepressants, and anti-spasmodic agents. The FDA has approved the use of CBD in the treatment of seizures and other brain injuries. Studies have shown that CBD can be helpful in lowering high blood pressure, preventing cancer, preventing heart attacks and even combating osteoporosis.
These studies have shown that CBD works well with other medications and is safe, but more research needs to be done in order to determine how it interacts with other drugs. In a recent study, researchers at the University of Mississippi studied the effect of CBD on animals to better understand how it works.
To date, CBD is recognized as a medicine that is both effective and safe to use by health authorities. There are still more studies to be done in order to test the effectiveness of this compound and see if other effects can be achieved.
Because CBD is natural and does not require a prescription, it is more accessible than most prescription pain relievers. This means that it can be bought over the counter in pharmacies or can be purchased from online retailers and herbalists.
Oil of CBD has also been used in many skin care treatments, including creams, lotions for the face. People who suffer from eczema or other skin conditions are often encouraged to apply a topical cream containing this oil to their skin in order to reduce irritation and redness. The problem with many of the topical lotions is that they are usually quite harsh on the skin.
CBD oil has proven to work just as well, if not better, than topical treatments for acne and other skin conditions, and it is safe to use on both adults and children. This means that CBD can be safely used on an ongoing basis as long as it is diluted with water, or another form of solution.
